The Artist

Gregg Rochester's art arises from his deeply contemplative nature and his inner alignment with the natural world.

His art career began over thirty years ago using the mediums of silversmithing, pottery, music, and painting. He is a third generation artist, preceded by his grandfather and mother. Before launching a full time painting career, Rochester spent many years working as a clinical psychologist, having been trained at Indiana University.

Rochester's art training included studies at the Instituto Allende and Belles Artes (San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, Dakota Wesleyan University, Kansas University, Indiana University, and the Scottsdale Artist's school, where he studied with renowned landscape painter, Michael Workman.

Inspired by the American Midwestern and Southwestern countryside, he began creating landscapes and animal studies, often working in large formats. He has enjoyed professional gallery representations in New York City, Scottsdale, Arizona, Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico, Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Lexington, Kentucky, Colorado Springs, Minneapolis, San Francisco, and Indianapolis.

His paintings can be found in institutional, private and corporate collections throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia. Widespread popularity of his work has included hospitals and healthcare settings. He has been featured in periodicals such as Art in America, American Artist, Better Homes and Gardens, Phoenix Home and Gardens, and Scottsdale Lifestyle. His work has been honored by presentation in the U.S. Senator George McGovern's library, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, "featured artist" on the National Endowment of the Arts website, and was named "Wisconsin Artist of the Year".
